Meaning for me is heightened in places where man has not yet subdued nature and where we remain a part of it: in wilderness, mountains, farmlands, forests and deserts. I have found painting is a spiritual-material activity in harmony with life's realities of birth, growth, death, rebirth, light, darkness, isolation and communion. I attempt to formalize the spirit-nebula in the materiality of paint so that the memories of places become expressions of feeling and meaning.
