Attempting to capture a specific place or person at a particular moment in time is exciting.  Painting portraits provides me with the challenge of capturing an individual’s character, while our city provides me with countless views that are visually inspiring, where the old constantly contrasts against the new and natural beauties compete for attention with architectural constructions.  I try to record the variety inherit in what I see. With watercolors I have the opportunity to respond immediately to the light and to the multiple characters of place that surround us in one of the world’s great cities.
